Towel Armoire
This is a small armoire I built to house towels, a CD and a small television for bathtub viewing.
It's constructed of recycled 2x6 wormy chestnut beams that were resawn and planed to yield 1" finished stock.
The cabinet doors are raised panel with European hinges.
The drawers are constructed of maple, dovetailed at the front. They're on full-extension drawer slides.
The back of the armoire as well as the drawer bottoms are 1/4" birch plywood.
The feet were turned on my father-in-law's metal lathe.
The hardware is a leaf motief that is reminiscent of the other knobs in the bathroom.
The piece was finished with four coats of natural danish oil, sanded with 300 grit between each coat. This was followed by four coats of blonde shellac sanded with 300 grit between each coat. Finally followed by a paste wax polish.
