This is my first lidded bowl. The bowl is from a blank of quilted maple. This is also known as tiger, curly or fiddleback maple. The striping is particularly evident in the interior shot of the bowl. The top is from Wenge (wen-GAY). I turned the lid, then drilled a center hole and inserted the turned finial. The pieces were finished with three coats of tung oil followed by paste wax. The bowl is about 7 inches in diameter and 3 inches high including the finial.
